Using cup method, at a certain temperature, the specific humidity difference is formed on both sides of the sample, then the water vapor passes through the sample in the permeable cup into the dry side. Through measuring the changing weight of the moisture permeable cup to obtain the water vapor transmittance and other parameters of the sample.

In order to form a comfortable microclimate between the human body surface and clothing, the fabrics need not only heat insulation or heat conduction, heat dissipation, but also good moisture absorption and moisture conductivity. The moisture permeability of the fabric is expressed by the moisture permeation rate and measured by the moisture permeation cup method.

Test Principle

Under the certain temperature and humidity conditions, keep a specific temperature difference on the two sides of the sample, and water vapor enters the dry side through the sample in the permeable cup. The moisture permeability of the sample was calculated by weighing the weight of the wet-permeable cup.

Test steps for Measuring Moisture Permeability of Fabrics by Hygroscopic Method

1 Open the oven, set the temperature at 160 ℃, put the desiccant in the oven for 3 hours.

2 Turn on the power, check the water level and add water if necessary. Set the temperature, humidity and airflow rate according to the test requirements.

3 Put the moisture absorbent in the moisture permeable cup, put the test sample face up on the moisture permeable cup, install the gasket and pressure ring, and seal it with tape.

4 Place the test object horizontally in the test box quickly and removed after 30min. Cover the corresponding cup cover and put it in the dryer for 30min. Then weigh them one by number, accurate to 0.001g.

5 Take off the cup lid, put the test object into the test box, after 60min, take out and weigh. Calculate the moisture permeability of the fabric according to the formula.
