Causes and Influencing Factors of Wear Resistance of Textiles

The abrasion resistance of textiles refers to the ability of textile to resist abrasion under the action of repeated mechanical friction. The anti-wear resistance of textiles has a direct effect on the use of the product and the use of the effect. The performances of the wear phenomenon under repeated mechanical friction are damaged, quality reduction, fade, pilling and so on.

The main reason:
(1)Textiles in the fiber between the continuous frictions, the fiber in the yarn are interrupted by mutual friction between the fibers, which resulting in damage to the textile;
(2)The fiber tissue from the textile, resulting in the original yarn structure and textile structure changes, due to the interaction between the yarn, may lead to fiber is pulled out which resulting in thinning yarn and fabric and causing the fabric to disintegrate;
(3)Fiber surface wear, fiber surface debris loss, will show partial fade.
(4)Friction causes the fibers to melt or plastically deform, by mechanical action to pull the fiber to the surface, and the formation of hair, which tangled into a ball through the fixed fiber and fabric surface connected.

Influencing factors:
1.The physical properties of the fiber
The physical properties of the fiber are mainly manifested as the physical properties of the fiber’s tensile, bending and shearing. In the process of wear, the fiber is subject to repeated stress, high tensile properties of the fiber, Repeated stretching does not affect its deformability and still has good abrasion resistance. The repeated stretching ability of the fiber is determined by the strength and elongation of the fiber and the elasticity.

2.The size of the fiber
The shape of the fiber also has an impact on the wear resistance of textiles, such as the length of the fiber, the thickness, the cross-sectional form, and the like. Longer fiber spun yarn, its strength, elongation and fatigue resistance and other mechanical properties, and therefore has good wear resistance. Fineness of small fibers spun into the yarn, its strength, elongation and fatigue resistance, but the fineness of the fiber is too small by the friction force, the fiber is easy to damage. Therefore, when selecting the fiber size, first of all, should be maintained in the fiber to withstand the tensile strength and shear strength of the case, to improve the fineness of the fiber.

3.The geometric structure of the textile
The geometrical structure of the fabric also affects the wear resistance of the fabric, mainly in the fabric thickness, warp and weft density, the weight per unit area, the apparent density of fabrics and hairiness content and so on. In general, the thicker the fabric, the higher the density of the latitude and longitude, the greater the weight per unit area, the higher the apparent density, hairiness content higher, so has better wear resistance; On the contrary, the wear resistance is poor.
A different use of textiles on the requirements of wear resistance is not the same, detection of fabric wear resistance, can improve the efficiency of the use of textiles. In addition, the continuous improvement and improvement of textile testing standards, for the settlement of China’s textile exports in the process of European countries encountered high standards, special restrictions and other measures have a certain role in promoting, which is conducive to the export of textiles.
