    Work Principle

This instrument uses a circular friction motion, pilling and other changes in surface appearance, such as fuzzing, which occur in normal wear are simulated on laboratory testing machines.

    Instrument Characteristics

The brush pilling tester is designed to test the pilling or pilling properties of fabrics under simulated and normal use conditions, including woven fabrics and knitted fabrics, as well as fabrics for automotive interior decoration.

Pilling instrument has two kinds of sample fixed chuck, each kind of chuck can support 6 samples to be tested. The standard square sample chuck has a square metal base with a fixture to hold the sample. In addition, an additional round sample fixing clamp is provided, which has a round base covered with a sponge body with an O-ring to fix the sample. When the pilling instrument works, the sample chuck is rubbed face to face, thus producing the pilling ball.

    Test Step

1 Bring the test specimens to moisture equilibrium for testing in the standard atmosphere for testing textiles.

2 Turn on the power and the instrument, set cycle times test mode or run time test mode.

3 Place the brush board on the 19.0mm radius rotating platform with the bristles pointing upwards.

4 According to the sample, select the corresponding fixed chuck. Mount the six specimens on the six holders, fabric face exposed and under sufficient tension to prevent wrinkling. Place the specimen holders over the vertical positioning pins so that the fabric face makes contact with the brush bristles. Start the instrument, test the number of times or test time after taking out the sample evaluation.

    Notice

For different types of fabrics, appropriate testing procedures are required. For loosely structured braids, the test is carried out by rubbing the sponge, which usually takes 5 minutes. For tightly structured woven fabrics, there are usually two steps, five minutes brushing and then five minutes of sponge friction. Wool blended fabric, according to the above test procedures, pilling more than the actual wear. Test the fabric for cavernous friction only for a period of time, and observe the pilling condition after each interval.
